Aunt Nat is a carefully curated collection of objects inspired by family. Spending time at the kitchen table and sending notes from afar are some of my favorite ways my family (my actual one at home and chosen ones in the many places I’ve lived) has shown love throughout my life.

Painted in April and May of 2020, these small abstractions were created for a dual purpose: keeping a steady studio practice alive while the world outside was uncertain, and to (finally) make work that would be reproduced as a printed object. For years I have wanted to make reproductions of my work, but not without every detail planned. The scale, color, and purpose of the work needed to be intentional from the beginning and conceptually unified with the final print version. The sudden circumstance of isolation at home provided the time and focus to make work expressly for this purpose.

The back of each postcard is inspired by the many postcards in my childhood collection. My favorite souvenirs from travels dating back to my earliest family vacations have been postcards from the many places I’ve visited. These sets are an homage to these collections, memories, and abstract places that we can only visit in our imaginations.
